Our team

Scott Lawson and partner Vicki Meech are committed to growing Bio-Gro certified organic berryfruit and vegetables. They are currently one of the largest producers of certified organic berry fruit and vegetables in New Zealand.  Pioneers in their field, they started as a one man band in 1992 and became certified organic in 1994.  The ‘True Earth™ brand was launched in 1999.  It was a natural progression for a couple who always thought there must be a better way.

Scott and Vicki have two young boys who love farm life.  “We love the lifestyle that we are able to give our children. This is very much a family business” says Scott.
Both Scott and Vicki have an active role in the day to day running of the business, Scott being General Manager and Vicki Administration and Human Resources Manager.

Scott is actively involved in many off farm, farming groups.   He is currently the Chairman of the Hawke’s Bay Vegetable Growers, current board member of LandWise and has been in the past on the Bio Gro board.
If Scott and Vicki and the boys can’t be found on the farm in the winter (the easiest time of year to try to take a break) they are seeking the thrills of the Turoa skifield.  Or Vicki is seeking the relaxation of yoga.

Growing organically is very labour intensive and Scott and Vicki couldn’t possibly achieve to grow the quality of vegetables and berryfruit without their wonderful team.

Kevin Corbett manages the blueberries production.  Kevin is passionate about these delicious berries and together with his wife Deanna they are part time beekeepers.
He has the help of a great team of Dave and Leigh to grow, pick and pack our blueberries.
Donovan Keen is 2IC on the farm.  Donovan has recently joined us and has taken learning the organic way in his stride.
Gordon and Tui who have been with us for over 10 years help keep those pesky weeds away.
Moray helps out on a casual basis passing on his skills to others.
Kevin Taylor runs the pack house and makes sure all that beautiful produce is packed and distributed all over the country. 
Barney, Nga and Alex work hard to fulfil all those orders to the highest standard.
Jonathan Bell of Bell & Associates works with the team as a sounding board and business advisor.
Wendy Huggett assists Vicki with the task of administration.

The team is helped through out the year also by up to 60 seasonal staff at the height of the season.
